Is it your scope?

You have tested your rifle and amunition. The ballistic program gives you correct data. And still, sometimes your long range shooting is not as good as you wish? You went hunting and you missed that important shot... Your gun was shooting so well but the groups opend up.... It might not be you, the rifle or ammo after all.... I have tested various scopes for the following: Are the clicks pricise- is for 0.1 mrad truly 0.1mrad over the hole adjustment range. Does the scope track correctly- if you for example dial 10 mrad high ( and shoota a group) then 10 mrad right, 10mrad down and 10 mrad left, your groups should be in a square ending at the first group. What accuracy has your scope? Everybody tests their rifle but also the reticle of the scope needs to come back to the exact previous location. ( I for example use a brenchrest gun with a proven scope and it shoots 1/8 moa- with a different scope „only” ¼ moa.) If you dial a lot ( what i do for Long Range), can the scope handle this or do your „turrets get worn out- inconsistant” And most importantly can the scope withstand vibration.....Sight in your scope, drive a day offroad or 100 km over a bad gravel road and recheck the zero....you might be surprised...
